cerberus ~ rene

I flick out all the lights
and count the dogs in my flat
each shaking their tails
like savage dominoes against the wall
eager to eat from the floor
moving my cigarette smoke
with hunger
creating a vacuum that eats as they do
and smells like we do
i take it all in
and roll them in my hands like small hounds made from tobacco
and let them move away
as they wish
letting them out again
training them
to be as wild
as us
and letting them rise up
like a crowd with one aim
dancing in the middle

the lights flick on
as you enter
my room smells of smoke
it glides up the walls and spreads through my ceiling
like your scent
your ideas
and grace.
