drive ~ rene

she opens the road with ease
eating road lights
like teeth driving through smoke
past eighty
past ninety
the full scent of our drive plays a humming bird game
with the road
and makes a smooth march song
along with the nights word
that’s coming in through roof
placing it’s hand in the vehicle
shifting liquid
as she changes gear
taking us home

if this car danced through the air right now
with us
i wouldn’t give a damn
it’d take us over the highway
and take us home anyway
to another place i wouldn’t mind
as long as she was driving
and i knew she was safe.
