HOTTIE – Eduard Dantes

I thought she was checking me out,
That she was falling in love with me
But as it turned out
She just fancied my cigarette.

She liked the way it danced, twirled and shone
Upon my my fingertips,
It hypnotised her
Mystified her
The flame made her realise
It had been 7 years since her last…

She looked me in the eyes then
Giving me her most flattering smile
Told me
She liked the way I rolled
And flicked
Then licked and sparked that old desire
With the fire
Of a match upon my…

But most of all
She was surprised at how quick
It all was over and done with.

I’m a master
I’m a smoker
I’m the master roller.

She smiled again and I almost died
Then she asked
‘Could I have a sup of that?’
I said ‘What?’
All the while thinking, our relationship was moving too fast.
‘Your cigarette.’

‘Oh, yeah, sure, have it.’

She took the cigarette
And kissed it
With her red lip-stick lips
She had a long drag
So long I almost spilt
My beer.

Then after one blow of smoke
I looked down at her fingers
To find half of my
Cigarette gone.

‘That was good’ she said.

Then she smiled her thanks and walked away
Leaving me absolutely naught to say
And worst of all,
Worst of all

No cigarette for today.

his name rhymes with ‘mince’. He’s rarely without a notebook and can usually be found next to the closest bottle of red wine. Previously a writer for The Roehampton Lane Journal.
