It is so Easy – Eduard Dantes

It is easy to slip into complacency
To not write,

To write only when the feeling takes you
And then
Not even then.

It is easy
To work the nine to five
With a packed lunch in between
Getting home to a microwave dinner,
To make love
Or watch telly

And drink;
It so easy to drink

Then go to bed
And dream of the weekend

That special
Always faraway kingdom
Were you will count your money
Back down to zero

Then on a forlorn Monday
Slip back
Into a nine to five
Five day week

Which leaves no strength
For writing.

his name rhymes with ‘mince’. He’s rarely without a notebook and can usually be found next to the closest bottle of red wine. Previously a writer for The Roehampton Lane Journal.
