Pyramid of Lemons – Amy Austen

Constructing my life again

is like trying to build a pyramid of lemons.

The roof leaks,

my brain leaks,

I’m watching videos of worms

and wailing inside.

A few seconds, an hour, a whole year in a flash.

I miss the moist

warm breath of the wind

& walking to work with kittens.

Now my hands are cold,

my tailbone hurts from sitting,

I want to sweat

I want to feel more.

On Blow, where he says

‘most people’s lives pass them by

while they’re making grand plans’

…that’s me.
