Sun-Dog Trail ~ Bob Kesh

sundogs

some of the days have been bad
there were times
wondering how strong
the light fixtures were
whiskey tasting like rust
some days have been bland
sitting like zombies
brain-dead
unblinking
soul-gone
other days came from nowhere
shining through
keeping the night bright and
the heart full
we chewed on the days
and got out what we could
somewhere
amongst the spit
we found ourselves
in good company
we hadn’t made it
far from home
too poor to travel
instead we laughed
a lot and drank a lot
listened to the blues
and knew we were
lucky to have made it to here.
