Teardrop – Eduard Dantes

To break into true tears
Is a shock only
A certain pair of eyes can experience,

It’s a sight only one heart can witness.

Shout it on a mountain,
And it is only ice.

Whisper it in the most fierce of storms
And it’s just a drop…

Breathe it on smouldering kindle
And all you’ll get is gas,

Never a pass.

All there is
Is just smiling
Through bloody gapped toothed mouths,
Perforated lungs and
Dried out eyes
Floating in an ocean.

his name rhymes with ‘mince’. He’s rarely without a notebook and can usually be found next to the closest bottle of red wine. Previously a writer for The Roehampton Lane Journal.
