things used to be different ~ Sean Wai Keung

i used to sleep

with the lights on

radio playing

now i sleep

with my laptop instead

i have the wikipedia page

for spree killings open

the soundtrack from

a clockwork orange playing

in the background

every night is like this

every poem i write

is trying to say the same thing

at around midnight

my radio used to play

a sexual advice show

which i would listen to

a woman called in one night

claiming that whenever she

made love with her husband

she caught herself thinking

about her kitchen appliances

(a washing machine

a kettle

a radio)

she claimed she hadnt reached orgasm

in fifteen years

thats longer than ive been alive

i thought

+ i still think about that sometimes

it keeps me up at night

that way that she sobbed

down the phone through the radio

that particular accumulation of static

the sheer reality of it all
